I believe you can go back up and down the scale so many times. Certain things can happen that can put you instantly back into a stage of grief out of the blue which you then have to deal with again. When my parents died, I was not in denial, I was not angry, I did not bargain. It was already far too late for that. My experience was immediate acceptance followed by months of regret and more months of overwhelming sadness at their loss. I think the Kubler-Ross model fit better for disasters I could see coming and felt powerless to change – loss of job, loss of health, divorce.
